Welfare and Safety
We have a designated Club Welfare Officer, as part of the Edge Monday Badminton Club, who has undergone the relevant training with Badminton England and completed an enhanced DBS check, so if you have any concerns about welfare or safeguarding at Edge Monday Club, then please email [email protected]
We currently only admit players over 16 years of age, and for all players who are under 18 years of age, we require a parent or guardian to complete the Registration Form and acknowledge that the player will be playing badminton with adults at Club Sessions and to confirm that they will arrange safe and suitable transport to and from The Edge on Monday evenings.
The Club has public liability insurance through its affiliation with Badminton England. New members also have public liability insurance for their first 6 sessions (including the first free-of-charge session). However, thereafter players play at their own risk. There is no personal injury insurance for attendees, unless you pay for this yourself. This is optionally available to players through joining Badminton England at www.badmintonengland.co.uk
All accidents should be reported to the Session Organiser, who has access to a First Aid Kit. There is also a defibrillator behind The Edge Reception Desk for use in emergencies.
In the unlikely event of a fire, fire evacuation will be led by the Session Organiser and other members of the Committee, but please take time to acquaint yourself with the location of the Fire Exits when you first visit The Edge Leisure Centre. The Fire Muster Point is the car park in front of The Edge building and adjacent to the outdoor sports pitches.
